A+ Schools of North Carolina provides high-quality professional development to A+ educators through skilled facilitators known as A+ Fellows. Every other year, a new cohort of Apprentice Fellows is selected following a comprehensive application and training process.

Since 1995, A+ Schools of North Carolina has transformed how schools approach teaching and learning. Each school in the network teaches the state’s mandated curriculum in a collaborative, multidisciplinary way, and weaves the arts into every aspect of a child’s learning experience.

The new school year has begun, and A+ Schools of North Carolina is welcoming many new A+ leaders. At each A+ school, the principal and assistant principal are supported by an A+ Coordinator or A+ coordination team who help the principals advocate A+ philosophy and practice schoolwide and serve as a liaison between the school and the A+ office.

A+ Fellow Victoria Lightfoot wins Milken Award
Victoria Lightfoot is a superstar educator. This past May, Victoria—a newly inducted A+ Fellow and an instructional coach at Millbrook Elementary, in Wake County—was awarded the Milken Educator Award. Known as the “Oscars” of teaching awards, this prestigious recognition comes with a $25,000 check, a trip to Los Angeles, and professional development support.
