North Carolina’s network of arts and cultural organizations includes more than 2,500 nonprofit museums, craft centers, symphonies, theaters, opera companies, literary groups, local arts councils, and more.

An important role of the N.C. Arts Council is to ensure that the arts and cultural sector is robust, thriving, and benefiting the people of North Carolina We accomplish this by providing significant support to arts organizations through grants and technical assistance.

Grants awarded by the North Carolina Arts Council provide opportunities for our citizens, wherever they live, to participate in the arts. Our grants also inspire students to learn and succeed in school and in life, utilize the arts as the cornerstone of downtown revitalization, enhance tourism, and help active military and veterans to heal from the wounds of war.
