The North Carolina Literary Review is accepting submissions for the 2024 James Applewhite Poetry Prize competition, with final judge Jessica Jacobs. The author of the winning poem receives $250 and publication in next year’s print NCLR. Select finalists will also be published in NCLR issues.

Wake County seeks to commission multiple professional artists to create site-specific exterior artwork to be placed at 7 Wake County Parks being renovated through Wake County’s Capital Improvement Plan as well as for future public art opportunities in County parks beyond these initial 7 projects.

Proposals are open for 1708 Gallery’s InLight: Grounds for Clearing. InLight is an annual nighttime outdoor exhibition of contemporary art. Artists are invited to propose projects that consider the site’s topography, history, wildlife, climate patterns, and current uses; as well as ideas around rest and healing, isolation and exile, preservation and reclamation, and fresh air and nature as forms of respite and remedy; and engage archival photographs, site maps and other materials.
