Apply for a Grant

Are you ready to apply for a grant? First, make sure you have read the eligibility requirements and guidelines for the artist or organization grant you are applying to and talk to your staff contact at N.C. Arts Council. Then apply in GO Smart, our online grants application and reporting portal.
Grant contract process & required documents

If you have been notified you are receiving a grant award, you will receive instructions, grant details, general terms and conditions, and a substitute W-9 to be completed via DocuSign. Upload the required documents into your grant application in the GO Smart portal. All required documents must be completed to receive funds.
Please make sure to read the grantee requirements to ensure you are in compliance with our policies.

Refer to the contract packet you received via DocuSign. Complete the required documents GO Smart. If you have multiple grants, only upload the required documents to your largest grant award.

Marketing and acknowledgments

When you receive a grant from the N.C. Arts Council, you are required to use our logo with tagline. We encourage you to place this on your website, use it in your print and electronic newsletters, and on as many materials as possible. Additionally, we require all grantees to send thank you letters to their state legislators. These letters foster appreciation and understanding of the impact of our grants with people who make funding decisions.
Submit final reports

Recipients of grants from the N.C. Arts Council are required to submit a final report for each grant received. All final reports will now be submitted electronically. Head to GO Smart, our online grants application and reporting portal, to complete your final report. After you have submitted your final report you will print, sign, scan, then email a copy of the entire report to the NCAC Grants Office at ncac.grantsoffice@dncr.nc.gov.
