Bring a Teaching Artist To Your School

Bring engaging arts learning to your students at no cost through the Teaching Artists for Schools program. North Carolina schools and districts can request experiences from a curated roster of NC teaching artists.

Important dates

  • Request period: August 3 – September 30, 2026
  • Notifications: Schools selected will be notified by October 30, 2026

North Carolina K–12 schools and public school districts.

Review the artist roster and submit a request using our online request form during the request period. Limit one request per school.

If requests exceed available funding, priority will be given to Tier 1 counties, Title I schools, and schools that have not recently received grant funding from the North Carolina Arts Council. 

Teaching artist fees are covered by the North Carolina Arts Council. The program is free for participating schools.

  • Date: February 1-5 and 8-12, March 15-19, April 12-16 
  • Format: 5 day school engagement, 4 workshop days, performance on Friday. Can do 2 performances a day. 4 workshops a day max. (has PD component)

Mike Wiley

  • Dates: January 12-15, 26th March 10-12 and 23-25, April 19,20,22,23 and 26-30 
  • Format: 50 min performance with optional short workshop after with a subset of students (has a teacher workshop for afterschool available)
