Application Period
Make sure to note deadlines, talk to the appropriate staff contact, and get your application submitted on time.

Application Review
Staff review applications, bring them to panels for evaluation, and recommendations are sent to the Secretary of the DNCR for approval.

Grants Awarded
Applicants are notified by email of grant award status.

Contracts Due
If you receive a grant, you are responsible for submitting the necessary paperwork to receive your funds.

Grant Use Period
Organizations or individuals who receive grants use their funds according to the stipulations in their contract.

Final Reporting
Final reports are required from all grantees at the end of the grant use period.

Are you ready to apply for a grant? First, make sure you have read the eligibility requirements and guidelines for the artist or organization grant you are applying for and talked to your staff contact at the N.C. Arts Council. Have you been notified by email that you’ve received a grant award? If so, you are in the right place. In addition to signing the general terms and conditions document (instructions to submit via DocuSign were provided in your award email), you must complete the documents we list below in order to receive your grant funds. Make sure to read the grantee requirements to ensure you are in compliance with our policies. 

NOTE: All forms can be completed and emailed in a bundle to the grants manager UNLESS otherwise noted.

When you receive a grant from the N.C. Arts Council, you are required to use our logo with tagline. We encourage you to place this on your website, use it in your print and electronic newsletters, and on as many materials as possible. Additionally, we require all grantees to send thank you letters to their state legislators. These letters foster appreciation and understanding of the impact of our grants with people who make funding decisions.

Recipients of grants from the N.C. Arts Council are required to submit a final report for each grant received. Head to Go Smart, our online grants application and reporting portal, to complete your final report. After you have completed your report, print and mail a hardcopy of your report with one original signature.
