Eight Years Ago Today, Scotty McCreery Won American Idol!

On May 25, 2011, Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler let Garner N.C.'s Scotty McCreery know he had just become the youngest male to win American Idol. In the eight years since, Scotty has gone on to top the Billboard charts, win multiple American Country Awards, and perform at stadiums and theaters around the world.
Earlier this year, the NC Arts Council got to talk with Scotty about his appreciation for North Carolina's love of the arts and music for their 50 for 50 project.
The North Carolina Arts Council is a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, a state agency.
