Outer Banks

The 9th annual Surfalorus Film Festival takes place September 17-19, 2020 on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This three-day celebration showcases the year's best surf films, supporting the work of award winning veterans to first-time filmmakers. Surfalorus is presented by Come Hear NC and is a partnership between Cucalorus and the Dare County Arts Council. Festival venues include Jennette' Pier, Jack Brown's, Roanoke Island Festival Park, and the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island.

Submissions for Lumbee Film Festival


The 3rd annual Lumbee Film Festival takes place July 2-4, 2020 at the Thomas Entrepreneurship Hub (Thomas E-Hub) in Pembroke, NC. The festival showcases bold, original new films made by American Indians, with special interest in those from Southeastern American Indian communities and especially members of the Lumbee Tribe of NC.

Works in Progress Lab


The Cucalorus Works in Progress (WiP) Lab supports social justice docs by African American filmmakers. Spend a week immersed in strategy building and community dialogue with Working Films organizers on the Cucalorus Campus in downtown Wilmington from Sept. 27 to Oct. 2. Then return for the fest in Nov. to celebrate and connect.
