08-10 Touring Artist Directory

Touring Artists Directory

The North Carolina Touring Artists Directory is a screened listing of nearly 150 professional individual performing, visual, and literary artists and performing groups who are available to present performances and conduct workshops and residencies throughout the state. The directory is designed to be a useful tool for presenters such as arts centers, colleges and universities, festivals, arts councils, schools, civic organizations, and other groups that hire artists to work within their communities.

Twenty-two directory artists are classified as Artists in Schools, artists who share their art form with pre-kindergarten through grade 12 students through single, short-term programs such as assembly performances, lecture-demonstrations, and question-and-answer sessions. Twenty-four artists are designated as Teaching Artists, individuals who are both skilled artists and experienced educators who work in depth with students, teachers, and/or families through workshops and residencies involving exploration and hands-on learning, lesson plans, and other educational materials.
