The North Carolina Arts Council is pleased to present the latest edition of the Artist Directory, a juried listing of more than 100 professional performing groups and individual film, literary, performing, and visual artists who are available to present performances, conduct workshops and residencies, undertake commissions, and provide other artistic services throughout the state, and beyond.
The directory is designed to be a useful tool for presenters such as arts centers, colleges and universities, festivals, arts councils, schools, and civic organizations seeking artists to work in their communities as well as a resource for individual and organizational clients looking to find the right artistic skill set and experience for the job they need done.
We are proud to offer this diverse resource of artists from across the state and hope that it will help you create programs that meet the needs of your community and locate artists with the talents and skills you’re looking for.
As you browse through this directory, you will see that each artist and group is represented by a brief biography, description of the work, and photograph. We have provided this basic information so that you can decide if the artist or group is likely to fulfill your specific programming or creative needs. You can learn more about the artists by contacting them directly to plan and explore possibilities together. The screening process that each artist went through to be included in the directory is not meant to replace the research that you as a client do before hiring an artist. We encourage you to speak to references and to us if you need additional information about an artist you want to engage.
This directory is full of possibilities for inspiring, entertaining, challenging, and rewarding programs and services. The artists are ready and available. Now bring your passion and creativity together with their talent to make wonderful things happen for you, your organization, and your community.
All of the artists included in this directory were evaluated for artistic merit, screened and approved by panels of their peers facilitated by the North Carolina Arts Council. Artists were also judged for their experience with the activities and services they wanted to list as well as their communication skills.
Our aim is for the directory to serve both clients and artists as a means to start conversations and collaborative planning. The site is searchable to help you find the type(s) of artists you are looking for. When you identify an artist whom you might like to hire for a performance, workshop, commission, or other program or service, you can go to the artist’s web site for detailed information. You may also contact the artist directly at the phone number or email address provided.
