Web Resources
A+Schools Network Provides information on this statewide North Carolina project that was started by the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts in 1993. The program centers on the belief that the arts can and should play a central role in how children learn. It also contains a list of the N.C. public schools that are part of the A+ Schools Network.
Americans for the Arts A national organization that serves as a clearinghouse for information and advocacy for the arts.
Arts Education Partnership Provides information on the latest developments in arts education, advocacy resources, funding opportunities, publications and resources, evaluation and research, and links to other related sites.
Cultural Funding: Federal Opportunities Developed by the NEA, this site features 23 federal agencies that have provided funding to arts and cultural projects and programs. The site also includes descriptions of previously funded federal grants to arts groups.
Getty Education Institute for the Arts Provides a variety of resources and services for K-12 educators.
The John F. Kennedy Center Education Department’s Arts Edge The Kennedy Center’s free digital resource for teaching and learning in, through, and about the arts. The web site features current arts education news, professional resources for teachers and others, and an annotated catalog of other related web sites.

LEARN NC A searchable database of innovative and successful practices in K–12 teaching and learning from the UNC School of Education.
Lincoln Center Institute for the Arts in Education Features information on professional development opportunities for educators on exploring the arts with their students through an experiential approach that emphasizes learning across the curriculum.
National Endowment for the Arts Includes descriptions of current and former arts education publications available on-line and through other resources, an Arts Learning Resource Center, a list of cultural funding opportunities, and guidelines and application forms for Arts Learning grants for which schools and non-profit organizations can apply.
North Carolina Department of Public Instruction This site is a great resource for information about arts education in North Carolina schools. Click on Curriculum then Arts Education for arts education curriculum and resources, click on other links for information and resources from DPI such as publications, education directory (with listings of every school system and school in NC), legislative updates, school laws, etc. To join the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Artsed Listserv and receive weekly updates, send an e-mail to www.artsed-join@lists.dpi.state.nc.us
National Assembly of State Arts Agencies Provides research and analysis of national and statewide issues of importance to arts education.

This site is intended for local leaders to assist with implementation of the North Carolina Arts Education Essential Standards. It includes Summer Institute presentations, templates, materials, and resources, as well as other important information specifically related to the Essential Standards.

President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities
An advisory committee to the White House on cultural issues. Addresses policy questions in the arts and humanities, to initiate and support key programs in those disciplines and to recognize excellence in the field. Its core areas of focus are arts and humanities education, cultural exchange, and creative economy.

Provides a list of resources and publications about arts in education.
Southeast Center for Education in the Arts (SCEA)
Offers innovative professional development in arts education and arts integration to enhance teaching and deepen learning in preK-12 classrooms.
U.S. Department of Education's ED.gov Promotes student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access. Includes information on federal financial aid for education, research data on America's schools, and key educational issues
Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning through the Arts Features information on the arts in education services that the Institute provides for children ages 3-5, their teachers and families through drama, music and movement. It also contains information on pre-school artist residencies that can be booked through them. Schools and non-profit organizations can seek funding for these programs through the North Carolina Arts Council.

A new online resource presents a straightforward set of resources for developing assessment tools and using them to illuminate and communicate student learning. Developed by the leaders of CAPE (Chicago Arts Partnerships in Education).
North Carolina Humanities Council
Offers programs and publications on North Carolina culture and history, grants for programs that promote community understanding and insight, awards and a Teachers Institute.
Piatigorsky Foundation
Free classical music concerts in small rural venues (50 seats or so) for very reasonable fees.
