"I plan to use the fellowship to support myself during the sabbatical I will take from my full-time job to complete a novel. The fellowship will allow me to grow as an artist by bringing this story which I have been living with for so long to fruition and closure. For me, a fellowship will be a public recognition and honor of my work."

Sherry Shaw received a Master of Arts degree from Hollins College and a Bachelor of Arts from UNC-Chapel Hill. She works for a mid-size business-to-business advertising agency in Charlotte and lives in Gastonia.
