Richard Krawiec
Fiction Writer

"I will use the fellowship money to buy myself time to write. I can survive for 6 months on the sum awarded. During this time I will work on a novel that I’m about halfway through. My work on the book has stalled because I haven’t been able to carve out as much time as I need to write. I have to work to play the bills. I feel it’s essential for my career to finish this book now. I’ve published two novels… . This can be the breakthrough book I need to establish myself. Without the time the fellowship would offer, it will be extremely difficult for me to finish it."

Richard Krawiec received an MA in Creative Writing from the University of New Hampshire and a BS in English from Suffolk University in Boston. He is the director of Voices: A Creative Community, a nonprofit organization that teaches writing to children and adults in preschools, public schools, after-school programs, homeless shelters, literacy sites, housing projects and wherever people have been excluded from literary programming. He lives in Raleigh.

Note: His work sample Accommodations is from the forthcoming story collection "And Fools of God" due out in December.
