Michael Grant Waddell
Jazz Composer

"I plan to use the fellowship to produce my second disk. This includes some composing, arranging, rehearsing, recording, mixing, mastering, and post production work. My development as an artist will certainly be enhanced by the experience of leading another group recording project. Studio recording puts your technical and creative abilities to the test while it also chronicles an hour or so of your lifelong musical experiences in a sort of time capsule. I have a set of new works that I want to reach and move people as well as present challenges and rewards to some of my favorite musicians."

Michael Waddell received a Masters of Music from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Music from East Carolina University. He lives in Benson, NC and is an educational representative for McFadyen Music in Fayetteville. He received the Jazz composers Fellowship from the North Carolina Arts council in 1994-95.
