Mary Jett Parsley
Playwright
"It isnt hard for me to imagine how I will use the fellowship. A playwright knows how to dream and scheme. First of all I will write. Ah, to take a summer off from work and devote it to my own writing
. The play that is rattling around in my head now is about drug abuse and rehabilitation and now will take some research; I need time for that. I would also use some of the funds to develop the plays. I would like to hire actors and rent space and work for several months on the scripts, directing them for a final staged reading to be presented to the public. This process is the perfect next step for my career."
Mary Jett Parsley received an M.F.A. from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and an A.B. in English literature from Duke University. She lives in Hillsborough.
