"I will use the funds from the Playwrights/Screenwriters Fellowship to create full drafts of a story about this area, entitled The Team. By easing my financial burden for two to three months… I will be able to focus on nothing more than the creation of this most important screenplay and therefore, I believe, assist greatly in my ambition of being a produced, resident North Carolina screenwriter. I also believe such focus would serve to make The Team a much stronger work and, therefore, more possible to find funds for production in this state."

Lon Bumgarner received a Bachelor of Creative Arts from UNC-Charlotte and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Southern California. He has written and directed for theater and television and currently teaches filmmaking and film-acting in Charlotte, where he lives.
