Kirsten Elizabeth Peterson
Filmmaker
"Filmmaking is an expensive and technical art. That it is an art,
however, should not be forgotten. Experimental film removes the
pretense of narrative and reminds us that images can be connected
abstractly, that sound can change the meaning of images, that
ultimately, a film is more like a dream than a mirror of reality.
Inducing a trance that confuses and provokes is more valuable
to me than telling a story within the confines of our conscious
interpretations of space and time."
Kirsten Peterson has a Bachelor's degree from Bard College in
Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. She lives in Asheville, NC where
she works at Malaprop's Bookstore/Café.
