"I have been writing for over twenty years and I am finally beginning
to find a style and voice that are uniquely my own, the goal of
every writer. I am in the process of putting together a collection
of short stories as well as outlining plans for a novel. The grant
money would come at a critical time in my artistic maturity and
allow me time to concentrate on these projects for the next two,
even three years."
John Picard has a M.F.A. in creative writing from the University
of North Carolina at Greensboro and a B.A. in English from the
University of Maryland. He is a library assistant at UNC Greensboro
and lives in Greensboro.
