Therese Zemlin
Visual Artist
"The NCAC Artist Fellowship period has been a great asset to my
studio productivity over the past year. The fellowship has enabled
me to work in the studio full-time both this summer and last,
providing me almost six months of studio time. This allowed me
to be very productive and to purchase what I needed most (i.e.
assistants, tools, papers, and inventories of pigments, mediums,
varnishes, and fibers.) I was able to be efficient and to develop
new technical working methods. The grant also enabled me to hire
a photographer to document my work. All of this enhanced the overall
quality of my work and provided a sense of satisfaction and momentum
that I otherwise would not have experienced."
Therese Zemlin has an M.F.A. from the University of Texas and
a B.F.A. from the University of Illinois. She is an assistant
professor at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where she
lives.
