Louanne K. Watley
Visual Artist

"The North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship has allowed me time to travel throughout North Carolina and Kentucky to find, purely by accident as well as with pure intent, women who have a certain zeal for life and are willing to write about their particular passion and let me photograph them as they go about their art or craft or way they live their lives. The Fellowship further has allowed me time and funding to design these photographs and accompanying text into artists books and give each woman a copy. Without this grant I would not have been able to make what I consider a giant stride forward in my personal vision."

Louanne K. Watley has an undergraduate and graduate degree from Duke University. She is an artist and lives in Chapel Hill, NC.
