Amy Chavasse
Choreographer

"The Choreographer's Fellowship award has significantly contributed to the quality and quantity of my creative work this past year. It has enabled me to pursue projects, enhance my publicity materials, including editing videos, commissioning new photographs and creating a new flyer, commissioning a new solo and reworking existing choreography. I was able to pare back my heavy teaching schedule to devote time for creative work. The Fellowship has come at a critical juncture in my career and in my development as an artist."

Amy Chavasse has a B.F.A. in Dance from the NC School of the Arts and an M.F.A. from the University of Washington. She has performed with Bill Young and Dancers, and the Laura Dean Musicians and Dancers. She is co-founder of Independent Dancemakers, a choreographic collective, and Chavasse Dance and Performance, a post-modern dance and performance art company. She is currently a visiting assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va., where she continues her freelance work as a choreographer and solo-artist.
