Celebrate North Carolina’s rich literary history and dynamic authors at a release party for Literary Trails of the North Carolina Piedmont: A Guidebook. Written by Georgann Eubanks on behalf of the North Carolina Arts Council and published in partnership with the University of North Carolina Press, this new guidebook sends you on 18 regional tours of the hometowns, hangouts and scenery that have inspired more than 200 writers of fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry, including Maya Angelou, Lee Smith, Reynolds Price and David Sedaris.

Hear Eubanks’ delightful insights along with remarks from North Carolina writer and journalist Duncan Murrell, a contributing editor at Harper’s Magazine, and Jaki Shelton Green, who, in 2008, became the first poet selected for the Piedmont Laureate program.

Enjoy live traditional music by Joe Newberry, a powerful and innovative banjo player, who is part of the string band Big Medicine, and refreshments as you experience the growing community of writers that call North Carolina their home.
