Artist Fellowship Awards
The N.C. Arts Council is accepting applications for the 2011–2012 Artist Fellowship awards for poetry, prose writers, songwriters, composers, playwrights and screenwriters. The fellowship award is $10,000.

General Artist Opportunities
Elsewhere Collaborative, Greensboro
Elsewhere invites creative artists in all disciplines to apply for the residency program which seeks to continue building a living museum from a former thrift store that contains a 58-year collection of objects and materials. Residents at Elsewhere create site-specific projects that respond to the living museum and community. There are no empty studio spaces or neutral sites. Residents consider their process as part of an ongoing response — building upon previous works in the space, engaging local publics and advancing community needs. Artist fee applies.

Performing Artists
Cameron Village Shopping Center, Raleigh
Performing artists are needed for Cameron Village’s Holiday Open House, Thursday, Nov. 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. Artists will be paid for their participation. Performers need to be able to move around the village and engage visitors.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington, D.C.
The DeVos Institute Summer International Fellowship Program provides practical experience to 15 mid- to high-level arts leaders currently working in international nonprofit performing arts organizations. This full-time, four-week intensive program takes place at the Kennedy Center each July. Fellows attend each summer for three consecutive years. While at the center, the fellows take classes and refine strategic plans for their home organizations.

International Songwriting Competition, Nashville, Tenn.
The International Songwriting Competition is accepting entries for the 2010 contest. More than $150,000 in cash and prizes will be shared among the 66 winners in 22 categories. The ISC provides an opportunity for artists to gain recognition, exposure, press and have their songs heard by the music industry's top executives and recording artists.

Literary Artists
Union County Writers’ Club, Monroe
The Union County Writers’ Club is accepting entries for the annual Adult Literacy Contest in the areas of short fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry. Entrants must be at least 18 years of age and U.S. residents. Entry fee applies.

University of New Orleans Press, La.
The University of New Orleans Press announces its seventh annual Writing Contest for Study Abroad. The contest is open to writers of fiction, nonfiction and poetry, and one winner in each genre will receive a complete fee waiver to the summer study abroad workshops in Edinburgh, Scotland (valued at over $3,000), plus publication in The Pinch journal. The Express Library Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh seeks local artists to be considered for display in the library’s gallery space for one-month exhibitions beginning November 2010. Vetrate Artistiche Toscane, Siene, Italy
Vetrate Artistiche Toscane is a studio based in Siena, Italy, which specializes in the creation of stained, painted and fused glass and offers one- and two-month apprenticeships throughout the year. Assistance is provided in finding housing. English is spoken in the studio.

Bridge for Emerging Contemporary Art, Albuquerque, N.M.
The BECA Foundation announces its second annual non-juried, experimental group exhibition Lab AD Friday, April 1, through Saturday, April 23, at New Studio A.D. in Albuquerque, N.M. The purpose of this exhibition is to further broaden exhibition opportunities and to discover and highlight new approaches by emerging contemporary artists, architects and designers as well as those who are more established but are stretching their work into unfamiliar territory. This exhibition provides an open opportunity in which to experiment freely without judgment. Entry fee applies.

Arts Council of York County, Rock Hill, S.C.
Artwork is being accepted for the 2010 Art Frenzy, an affordable art exhibition and sale. Work will be on display in the Edmund D. Lewandowski Gallery at the Center for the Arts in Rock Hill from Monday, Nov. 8, through Sunday, Nov. 14. No entry fee.

The Healing Place, Raleigh
The Healing Place of Wake County, a nonprofit recovery and rehabilitation facility for homeless people with alcohol and drug dependency, invites artists to submit digital images of artwork for inclusion the organization’s 10th anniversary calendar.

Murray State University, Murray, Ky.
The fifth juried biennial Kentucky National is a survey of contemporary art in America hosted by The Clara M. Eagle Gallery at Murray State University. The exhibition will take place Friday, Feb. 18, through Sunday, March 13, 2011. All submissions to Kentucky National 2011 must be digital. Film and video submissions should be submitted through an online link to a high-quality version of the film (through Vimeo, YouTube or personal Web site).

Drift Station Gallery, Lincoln, Neb.
Drift Station Gallery and Parallax Space announce a call for artworks for the upcoming exhibition Instructions for Initial Conditions to be held Friday, Nov. 5, through Monday, Nov. 29. The show will consist of instructions exhibited as artworks, either to be carried out by the audience or realized in their minds. Works for this exhibition should describe the initial condition by which an artwork can be made or enacted.

Art in Transit, Salt Lake City, Utah
Art in Transit announces a request for qualifications for a public art commission at the Transfer Station on the North Temple TRAX line in Salt Lake City. The Transfer Station will serve multiple transit modes and is likely to become the most significant and active station along the North Temple light rail line.

City of Ogden, Utah
The City of Ogden, Utah, the Ogden River Restoration Project and the Ogden City Arts Advisory Committee invite U.S. or legal resident artists/artist teams to submit their qualifications to design, fabricate and install a public artwork for the Ogden River Restoration Project.

Arts Council of Long Beach, Calif.
The Arts Council of Long Beach announces a call to artist-architect teams to design portable, flexible and architecturally significant performance venues for vacant lots located in the City of Long Beach. This project is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Art’s Mayor’s Institute on City Design 25th Anniversary Initiative and matching funds from the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency and the Los Angeles County Arts Commission.

City of Norfolk, Va.
Artists are invited to submit qualifications to create thought-provoking artwork expressing the function of the Hampton Road Transit Southside Operation Complex facility and the nature of movement and transportation within the context of the surrounding neighborhood. The artwork should be conceptual and symbolic, not illustrative or literal. Budget for project is $50,000 with an additional $25,000 if clock tower is included.

University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fla.
The University of Central Florida has issued a call to artists in the first phase of its new Performing Arts Complex. The complex includes an exterior courtyard that will be the site of sculpture, earthwork or similar site-specific art installation.

Love Field Airport Modernization Program, Dallas, Tex.
The Love Field Airport Modernization Program will renovate and expand Love Field Airport. Renovations include a new centralized concourse, a remodeled lobby, expanded baggage claim area and a new ticketing wing. The renovation plan identifies 11 potential locations for new public art.

University of North Carolina, Asheville
Artists are invited to submit entries to UNC Asheville’s Drawing Discourse, a national juried exhibition of contemporary drawing. Accepted work will be exhibited in the S. Tucker Cooke Gallery Friday, Jan. 14, through Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011. Cash prizes awarded. Entry fee applies.

Maryland State Arts Council, Baltimore, Md.
Maryland State Arts Council has issued a request for qualifications for the Maryland 9/11 Memorial on the plaza of the World Trade Center on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. An artifact from the World Trade Center in New York has been selected by a Maryland delegation and will be the focal point of the memorial. The project is open to professional design teams (including designers, artists, architects, landscape designers, etc.) located in the U.S. Lead designers must at least 18 years of age and be U.S. citizens.

Linn County Public Art Commission, St. Louis, Mo.
Linn County Public Art Commission is seeking qualifications from artists for five separate projects associated with three public facilities being rebuilt as key parts of Linn County’s recovery from a 2008 flood. Artist qualifications will be accepted through CaFÉ™, an interactive online system. EnergyXchange is now accepting applications for a three-year residency position in the ceramics studio beginning January 2011. EnergyXchange Craft Incubator program was established to support six talented artists in starting, managing and operating their own small business in the crafts of glass blowing and pottery.

City of North Charleston, S.C.
The City of North Charleston Cultural Arts Department is accepting applications for two opportunities: the 2011–2012 season at the North Charleston City Gallery (offers a public exhibition opportunity for serious visual and fine craft artists) and the 2011–2012 season of the Meeting Place Window Display (offers a relaxed public exhibition opportunity for visual and fine craft artists at all stages of their careers).

Florida’s Art in State Building’s Program has issued a call to artists for a project at the new Culture and Society Building. The Art Selection Committee has identified four possible interior and exterior sites and wishes to commission artwork for at least one of those sites. Project’s art budget is $100,000.

Utah Public Art Program, Salt Lake City, Utah
The Utah Public Art Program requests letters of interest and qualifications from professional artists or artist teams to create site specific public art for the new Center for New Media on the Salt Lake Community College campus in Salt Lake City. Total arts budget is $205,000. The art selection committee envisions contemporary art using cutting edge technology, digital media and visual trends to engage the student body while considering the larger community.

Bridge for Emerging Contemporary Art, Albuquerque, N.M.
The BECA Foundation presents an exhibition opportunity to two separate artists, architects or designers to each exhibit new works of art or design at New Studio A.D. in Albuquerque, N.M. Duos, groups or collectives may also submit their work for review as one body of work. Two separate artists, architects or designers will be selected by BECA Foundation to receive the exhibition opportunity from Tuesday, Feb. 1, through Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011. City of Killeen, Tex.
The City of Killeen invites eligible sculptors to apply for consideration to demonstrate their carving talents during the Take 190 West Arts Festival. The sculpture competition takes place Friday, March 4, when 10 pre-selected artists will be given limestone blocks measuring 12” x 12” x 36” at 8 a.m. to create original artworks by 5 p.m. that day.
