John Biggers
Biography
North Carolina native and nationally renowned painter, John Biggers taught art throughout his career at Texas Southern University in Houston. He has completed major mural commissions at Hampton University, Winston-Salem State University, the Music Hall in Houston, Texas and the Houston Public Library, among others. In 1995, Dr. Biggers received the North Carolina Award in Fine Arts.

Michael Harris
Biography
Michael Harris is an artist as well as a scholar, specializing in African and African American art history. He holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and currently teaches African and African American Art History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Harris also holds a Masters in Fine Art degree from Howard University and exhibits his artwork across the United States.

Project Description
The two original lithographic prints purchased for this project reflect a West African and African American cultural heritage shared by many at this historically black university. Both prints revolve around the importance of family, themes appropriate for a building housing student development, career services and community services.
