Project Description
Four obelisk sculptures will be placed in a lawn area adjacent to the main entrance of the campus. An image, laser cut in steel, creates a line drawing which will decorate each side of the obelisk. The images are inspired by Edward Muybridge's photographic studies of movement. The steel cutouts will give the viewer the full sequence of action as he or she walks around the sculpture. Steps rest at the base of the obelisks, representing the first steps each student takes at school. A lamp, placed in the base of each obelisk, will radiate from the sculpture through the laser cut line drawings. The artists have described the sculptures as metaphors for the school's philosophy of dedication and commitment to the arts.
